Thunderstorm

The sky is an eerie gray-green incandescence, like it was lit from some new source. There is that odd “ozone” smell in the air. The air is electrical – the energy in the atmosphere that is almost tangible. Involuntary shivers tingle your spine and you assure yourself there is no reason to be afraid. It’s just the electricity in the air making your hair stand out from your skin.

Then the flash, followed by the BANG! The flashes come faster and the crashing and crackling sounds follow them more and more quickly. The deep resounding rumble overheard reminds you of the remark you heard as a child – “The Old Man is bowling.” It isn’t hard to imagine a huge bowling alley when you hear it, with a giant bowling ball and pins crashing down all over the place.

But there is nothing to worry about. You are inside, nice and dry. Might not be a bad idea to move away from the window, just in case…
