Today I saw myself at twelve
Hidden and in disguise I watched her from the corner She had no tears in her eyes But that doesn’t mean she felt well Rather, she held in the pain Of being raped, she took the guilt Kept it all and went insane Every breath she took in hurt No way would she tell How the police officer invaded her Ejecting her into hell Avoiding anyone for fear of shame Reaching for a dismantled frame This went on until the day she wrote it down
