                                          Ghazal 255


Persian:  Aey baikhabar bakoosh keh sahibkhabar shawi
              Ta rahroo nabaashi, to kay rahbar shawai
Urdu:      Aey baikhabar bakoash keh sahibkhabar ho too
              Rehro agar banay too kabhee, rahbar ho too

English:=== Your ignorance, O friend, don't try to hide
                  First know the way if you want to be a guide
                                                -

Persian:  Dar maktab e wajood ba peesh e adeeb e ishq
              Han aey pisar bakoosh keh roozay pidar shawi
Urdu:      Is maktab e wajood maen paesh e adeeb e ishq
              Laiway agar sabaq toe pisar say pidar ho too

English:=== The manners of loving you should try to learn
                  If the lover's title you would like to earn
                                                -

Persian:  Dast az mus e wajood chu mardaan e reh bashoo
              Ta kimia e ishq bayaabi o zar shawi
Urdu:      Ulfat kay raastay maen mitaay khudi agar
              Mil jaay kimia tujhay, tanbay say zar ho too

English:=== This self is an illusion, get out of its hold
                  And you'll change yourself from lead to gold

Persian:  Khaab o khurat zay mertaba e ishq dour kard
              Aan dam rasi ba doost keh baikhaab o khur shawi
Urdu:      Kerta hay dour mertaba e ishq khaab o khur
              Ger qurb e yaar chahiay baikhaab o khur ho too

English:=== The pleasures of life you must forsake
                  Yourself a lover if you want to make

Persian:  Gar noor e ishq e Haq ba dil o jaanat ooftad
              Ballah kaz aaftaab e falak khoobtar shawi
Urdu:      Pur noor ishq e Haq say houn ger jaan o dil teray
              Khursheed e aasmaan say bhee khoobter ho too

English:=== With God if your love does make you one
                  Your slaves will become the moon and the sun

Persian:  Az paay ta sarat hama noor e Khuda shawad
              Dar raah e zooljalaal chun baipa o sar shawi
Urdu:      Roshan Khuda kay noor say ho ser say paoun tak
              Ger raah e zooljalaal maen baipa o ser ho too

English:=== If your heart and soul you give Him outright
                  He will surely fill them with the Divine light

Persian:  Bunyaad e hasti e to chun zeer o zabar shawad
              Dar dil madaar heetch keh zeer o zabar shawi
Urdu:      Bunyaad e hasti zair o zabar ho ager teri
              Gardish maen aasmaan ki na zair o zabar ho too

English:=== And if your pain and sorrow are hard to bear
                  He will certainly help you; do not despair

Persian:  Wajh e Haqeqat ar shawadat manzar e nazar
              Zeen pus shakay namaand keh sahibnazar shawi
Urdu:      Chehra banaay Haq ka agar manzar e nazar
              Maqbool chashm e Haq maen ho, sahibnazar ho too

English:=== So pray to God that He shows you the light
                  And you will develop a great insight

Persian:  Gar dar sarat hawa e wisaal ast HAFIZA
              Bayad keh khaak e dargeh e ahl e basar shawi
Urdu:      HAFIZ wisaal e yaar ki rakhta hay ger hawas
              Laazim hay khaak e dargeh e ahl e basar ho too
