The Tiger's Eye

Just a little something I'm working on.

Something I am working on. I am aiming at making this a novel, but am expecting a novella. This is in part just to show Ernie that I can still write something longer than 300 words, but It's also for me.

Please note, everything here is still in its first draft. I have not gone back to edit anything, I simply got the ideas down on paper as quickly as I could, and will go back and rewrite the whole thing (maybe a few times...) when I am done. So, if you are giving reviews (which I would certainly appreciate. ;)) keep this in mind. I am not terribly concerned about things like comma placement (unless it is recurring, in which case I may have to learn a new rule.), as chances are good that in the end none of these lines will be the same anyway.

I am taking some time to think about the story. Or rather about the backstory, and the world that this novel takes place in. I have realized how roughly sketched my world is, and I have decided to color it in. I will do my best to keep within the lines. I am going to add religion to the story, not for any spiritual reasons of my own, but simply because religion can add many dimensions to a story that are otherwise left out. Once I add these things, I am not sure if I intend to rewrite the first 8 chapters that I already have a first draft of immediately or not. I may simply add the dimensions to the later chapters and fill in the blanks in the first rewrite.

This first draft is going to turn out to be very short. Perhaps only 25,000 words. If you see a scene that needs to be expanded, or even have a suggestion for expanding a scene or a scene that needs to be added, please speak up. :)

Everything in here was typed in MSWord, and the italics don't transfer over. If it seems like something that isn't in italics should be, such as a thought, it probably is in the original document.

I said earlier that I was going to add religion. I began to do that, and it changed. It is no longer a religion, but more a following. Certain people believe that someone way in the past was right about something, and they devote themselves to his memory, and even his return, with him the ideals he had. I think that is more interesting than a standard religion.

As it is written right now, the story of the Ensemble is known by few. As of later chapters, that is incorrect. The story is known by all. I will change Chapter 6 to reflect that, and possibly use the story of the Ensemble as a prologue instead.
