The Phoenix
Writer's Cramp Entry April 27/28. The Phoenix, a boy, death & rebirth.

Phoenix, bird of the sun.
Born of fire, light and life.
Like a fast meteor,
Hurtles through time and space.

Seen as a falling star.
To some it provides hope.
To others, instills fear.
To the small boy dying,
It is his only hope.

Prayer upon prayer,
He dreamed of salvation.
As Phoenix zooms closer,
The boy’s soul starts slipping.

The Phoenix soars inside
Just as all is thought lost.
Tears gently drop on him.
Stillness, then the boy leaps
For joy onto Phoenix.

Away they soar over
Mountains, then through valleys,
Skimming toes on water.
Free, free at last from pain.

Toward the sun they fly,
Phoenix and boy to play.
Closing windows, parents
To prepare funeral.
