Memories That Haunt
my memories haunt me

My memories continue to haunt me.
Disturbing my sleep at night.
Just shadows they won't let me be.
Sheer terror, my eyes burn at the sight.

Where can I find any peace?
I fight this battle alone.
I need to find a release.
A closing I haven't known.

I sit at the table and write,
Thinking back to years gone by.
As I see my words in the light.
My soul delights at the sight.

Peace comes slowly for me.
Night shadows begin to fade.
Writing has set me free.
My dreams have let me be
