I stand and know the silent pain That is a part of my every breath It is hidden where no one sees No evidence when you look at me I cradle the memory in my heart Of my little girl with eyes so gray They twinkled with flecks of gold A perfect match to Daddy's A window to her soul She brought much laughter But do not be fooled She was a drama queen Everything was most intense Way up or down so low She lived her life full and fast And oh, how we love her so! The birthday that was not to be Still is vivid in my memory Eight years old Does not seem much to ask But eight years did not pass The ache it leaves will always be Until this life is but a memory My life is rich, many blessings I know But there is a place only a little girl can hold My Sweetheart You told me one day with fear in your voice "Mommy I don't want you to die" I smiled at you and the purity of your love I said, "Someday, but when I do, Mandy always remember I will wait for you" Now you wait for us to come It is not the way it should be But I will be there soon...any day I know sweetheart... You are just a breath away! 25 years and still waiting
