A Broadway Star
Writer's Cramp Entry April 30/May 1. Will the fortune teller tell me that I'll be a star?

To the fortune teller I went
To see how my future was bent.
Looking into her crystal ball,
Her eyes grew very small.

You will be a big smash
In a Broadway bash.
Excited, I fled out the door.
My mind and spirit did soar.

My friend was across the way.
I ran over to her to say hey.
There was a loud beep.
I collapsed in a heap.

As I floated up from my body
I saw that I had died so shoddy.
Yet the fortune teller has said true,
I was a hit on Broadway Avenue.
