Demons and Dragons The demons and dragons lie waiting for you to fall, They upset your balance when there's nobody to call, Lurk behind the furnace in shadows that you dread, Uncover you in dead of night tucked up in your bed. Deep within your heart lie all your deepest, darkest fears. You reason that you've outgrown them after all these years. No escaping demons when you're small or when you're grown. Weaknesses are known to them when once the seeds are sown. They'll trample on your pride and the image that you've built Shame, demean and humble you with all your years of guilt. Your body shakes, gripped with fear, just like a little child, It's senseless you realize, your mind is driven wild. With courage you brave one step down into the unknown, Down into the darkness, you feel chilled through to the bone. But nothing happens, you are safe, dragons dissappear. They are only wisps and shadows, figments of your fear.
