Get a Grip Discussion Lesson 1

I do not understand the conjunctions very well.  The way it is explained is confusing.  I need more of an explanation.  I must have been absent the day they talked about them at school.  I need to get a grip on quite a few parts of speech.  I can understand them if I have the rules before me, but take them away and I am lost.  I am not sure how I did on this first lesson.  I was not sure of a lot of answers.  I do wonder if everyone will be in the same boat for a little while at least. We all are taking the class because of a lack of understanding or knowledge.
