Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty - Wendell Phillips

Naivety and ignorance, on the other hand, forms the quicksand in which buried heads surrender their freedom. - Michael mjp ink

There are two voices here; the Enlightened and the Naive, with the voice of naivety italicized.

Lowered Expectations
by George Baker

So, I guess you assume that the world will be fair?
Don't you know what is playing,
or the plans that they're laying
or what G-Men are saying?
They are all watching too.
They? Who?
There's a camera on you.

While you sit in art classes with rose colored shades,
you might say they're not hazy
and the world isn't crazy
while that bright painted daisy
spews a cyanide Glade.
Huh? Where?
On your own canvass there.

No, that guy in the White House, he wants to rule you.
He's in love with his power,
He would like us to cower,
while our liberties sour
It is you he will screw.
He will?
It's right there in the bill!

So, you say some religions are out on the edge
while our own TV preachers
fill stadium bleachers
and persuade hopeful creatures
they can charge what they pledge.
At the cross, souls we'll win!
MasterCard - That's our sin.

We're indebted forever but we live for today.
We're no longer producers
we import all those juicers
trade-imbalance abusers
the American way.
China rules! Bring it on!
You won't stop 'til it's gone!

Insurmountable debt that extends to the moon;
we must all try to drop it.
there is no one who'll profit
Lesser spending would stop it
but we have to act soon!
So what?
They will own you, that's what!

With our currency down and each state on the dole
Feds will form a world charter
to control and to barter
all the money for starters.
while we give up control.
You're ill.
Say goodbye to free will.

And, those full body scans that created a fuss,
now are viewed as protection;
though illegal deception
while they give the perception
they're concerned about us.
Oh, that's nothing but bunk!
While they're touching your junk?

Even far from the airport, they'll prolong their attack
and they''ll search through your purses
while ignoring your curses
as our freedom reverses
and we can't get it back
We have laws and due course!
Just the ones we enforce!

But before all the G-Men advance this crusade,
there must be a correction,
and a swift insurrection,
with a massive defection
that will end their charade.
But, why?
(sigh) Would you let freedom die?
