The Angle and the Arc: A Love Story
Can incongruent figures find a formula for love?

The Angle and the Arc: A Love Story

The Arc and the Angle
Lay face to face
In the geometry book.
The concept of love was at first incongruent,
For, as plane figures, they had no gender.
The arc was a sexless sector,
And the angle rather obtuse.
To go any farther than to lie together,
Face to face,
On pages 72 and 73 of Textbook of Plane Geometry.
But the forces of love are strong,
And its formulae inexorable.
Dissimilar lines, an arc and an angle,
Each with ninety degrees,
Found unity in a Cupid's bow,
And an archer's bowstring,
Pulling for each other to
Solve Love's equation.
