How important do you feel punctuation is to writing? Do you think these lessons will help you to improve your writing skills? Why or why not?
I think punctuation is very important in writing, whether it’s a story, a poem, or an article. For one thing, there are those who read your pieces and recognize poor punctuation when they view it. They will either help you see your mistakes or think poorly of the author. Learning to recognize my mistakes is the only way I can keep from leaving them in my writing. Knowing the punctuation rules gives me an advantage; I am able to write correctly and without hesitation. When my writing is not up to standard, I work harder at fixing it than I really care to. I get discouraged with the piece and want to lay it aside, until later. I feel really confused and tired. When I do finish I am proud of my accomplishments; I get a fresh slap in the face, because there were corrections I didn’t know about. It’s an endless job. So, yes, I do think these lessons will help me to improve my writing skills. I plan to use them in all my writings: past, present, and future.
