We are but age-old children
In a rough and needy nest –
But the children there grow up when
They’re feeling home is the very best!
Understand the memory
Of a proud and successful youth –
By God, there must be many
For which happiness is the truth!

So be forever useful and strong
And tough at the friendly confines!
The pain can never last too long,
Because everyone in there whines…
A flock of birds flies south
In the winter for warmer weather,
And the patient working of the mouth
Gives families strength together!

We must decide on youth or age,
And if all can be forgiven –
But older folks can be so sage,
While younger folks stay driven!
We all depend on honesty,
A deer that’s caught in headlights –
But strength must come from modesty,
And our toughness, sought, delights…
