Diamonds and Coal!

Lord, upon me bestow,
All that is good.

Though it seems a lump
Of coal at the giving,
Teach me to treasure it and
To understand that the
Cares and trails and tears
That accompany the gift,
Come but to press and
Shape and cleanse it.

Until it shines as the gem
That you did intend
For it to be.
And as life’s cares and
Trials and tears, press and
Shape and cleanse me
(As they should)
Help me to recall,

That all which you bestow,
Is good!
