Now that we have covered quotation marks, did you discover a rule or two that you didn't know before?  How has this lesson helped you?

It has been especially hard for me to know what words can have quote marks within quotation marks. The rule here in lesson three tells me exactly what words are to be use this way. Also the cliché rule is helpful in this regard.  I will be comfortable using this rule, because I now know the correct usage. It’s so important to know the right punctuation to use, and how to distinguish it from what I imagine to be right in my ignorance.

I, also, am glad to know how to use the justified quote fragments rule, which is more expanded upon in the colon rules. Rule two in lesson two deals with correct usage of a long quote, and how to incorporate it into the piece being written.  I have a story I’ve written where this rule is coming in very handy to help me solve this particular problem. Now I can use the correct rules to make this piece be the best it can be. This is important to me.

A teacher, of college students, told me to just italicize this huge quote in my story. If I do indenting it will be more recognizable as a quote, and not just a part of the story that has a little different appearance.  Knowing the rules for the needs in story writing is very important; it helps me to look forward to better writing in the future.  It gives me confidents and a spirit of success.

I think I will explode now with elation at knowing I have reached a real milestone because of this lesson three in punctuation.  I am very glad I decided to choose this class now and didn’t wait till the fall class.  Besides, I have met fellow students in this class, which have enriched my experience just through the discussions we have in the student lounge.  I am sorry there are only two lessons left, yet I’m also glad to be done with the work and on my way to more time for writing.
