The Big Catch

Out by the lake I grabbed
my pole before
it went into the water.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Feeling the pull
on the other end
I jerked, holding the pole
as high as I could.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
At first I couldn't move the reel
so strong was the pull
I didn't want to lose my catch.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Eventually, when the fish grew tired,
I slowly started to reel it in,
so slow though I thought I should give up.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I headed up the bank,
still reeling in,
seeing soon I'd be able to get the fish
up to the bank.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
SPLASH!
A good size largemouth bass
came up to the surface
connected to my fishing pole.
A Wave in Time
History books have things
that happened in the past
recorded by its date.
Wars fill
the majority of its pages,
one war represents
a wave in time,
when most people die
from a conflict between nations.
Peaceful times
not many appear even
represents another wave in time
when people rest
kids play
and parties are common.
The Songbird
In the morning
I wake up
listening to the morning song
a Kestrel sing nearby.
While the sunsets
after getting out of my car
from work
I hear a different song
sung by the same Kestrel.
Special Care
On Animal Rescue shows in Animal Planet
A rescue team sets out
Heading to the place mentioned
By the phone call received
A dog
Standing on top of a car
In the middle
Of rising water
Dogs and cats
Linked so they can't run away
Left in place
Abandoned by their owners
Lost animals found
Taken into special care
Some are successful, others fail
On rescuing animals
From danger and abuse
Jumping High
A kangaroo
on a rock
resting underneath a tree
Sunshine
creating heat waves in the air
in the center
of the desert
Sand blowing
from the raging winds
lifted into the air
falling dodwn afterwards
onto the ground
Startled by a rustle in the grass
the kangaroo jumped
high
higher than a lion
higher than a small young palm tree
high
high enough to leap
over an African Elephant
Danger passes by
the sun sets
the air cools
then the kangarooo leaves the tree
goes out to eat the grass
away from the tree
Breeder
out on a farm
a place where dogs
and cats are kept
specifically for breeding
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
two years old a siemese cat
with black hair and blue eyes
taken down to an animal shelter
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
a family
looking for another dog
finds this cat at the shelter
irresistible not to take
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
at home
for the first time ever
of being free from the cage
the cat roams the house
exploring every room
joyfully

Dangerous Winds

High pressure coming
from the mountais
winds going down
at a speed of 85 mph
..............................
in the plains
is a low pressure
where the wind is headed
..............................
coming down the mountains
the winds pick up speed
faster
and faster
until it hits the bottom
..............................
passing the bottom
at 120 mph
the wind blows
through the plains

~*~Most of these poems and such have not at all been edited due to procrastination during the semester of waiting until the last minute to put them inside the book project. All done for my creative writing teacher.~*~
