Last Day of School

Thank goodness it’s finally over. The last day of school. This has been the worst year of my entire life.

It all started when dad walked me here that first day. He left me here all by myself, and he went to work. It was just awful. I had to learn to take care of myself.

Then there were the bathrooms. The teacher wouldn’t let me go when I had to. She made me wait until recess. I almost peed in my pants. In the bathroom, they made all the boys line up and pee into a trough. How disgusting, and smelly.

Next was the fire drill. That was a big disappointment. We lined up and they marched to the parking lot, but I never did see the fire drill or the firemen. It was a big fraud. We stood there for ten minutes, and then they marched us back in. I think they only wanted to get us out of the school.

What about the day I sat in the playground all by myself for an hour and a half. How was I to know that the concert lasted right through recess? I couldn’t understand why everyone was leaving the school grounds. We weren’t allowed to leave the grounds during recess, but everyone was going home. I thought I was just obeying the rules. Thank goodness the teacher called my mom to come and get me. I was crying, and I was starved.

I figured out that the teacher doesn’t seem to like it when I blow bubbles out of my mouth, or when I hum or sing. She can be really crabby sometimes.

Maybe I should have gone to kindergarten first. I sure hope grade two goes better. Grade one was a tough year.
