Deceit
Promises made but never kept... (Form: Free Verse)

Deceit

You paint the sky with sorrow
just to match your eyes.

Azure ghosts haunt
melancholy interludes,
distracting me with
feelings of emptiness.

We trade words that
are meaningless sounds;
they float through the air
but go unfelt
like silent breezes.

You offer me your body
but when I touch you,
you do not feel.

Your eyes make promises
your heart will never keep.

It is not enough.

Notes

An entry for "A River of Poetry & Prose [E]
Prompt: Emotions.

Thank you for taking time to read my words. I would appreciate it if you took a moment and left a comment. Your reaction, impressions, criticisms, - yes, even praise *Smile* are all equally welcome.
