Catullus 45
A modern variant. Humour is inevitable and I hope no one is offended. It's not intended!

And so this guy, whose hair was long,
Clutched at a guitar and sang a song
To a girl called May,
Who had blue eyes
And a habit of playing with other men's ties.

"Oh woe if me if I can't love you,
Forever and ever and tomorrow too.
I would only want
To love you my May,
Else I'd end up fighting a chav someday!

Is it mad to say I'd leave my crew
To wonder Wycombe in search of you?
Facing the clouts
That come my way
Oh I'd fight the drunks for you my May!"

Now she was a Muslim and he a Jew,
So as to 'congrats' their friends had no clue.
So one gave a star,
The other a Hand
Which was meant to bring luck to both their lands.

So now the girl tilt's back her head
And kisses the drunk eyes of the boy in her bed.
She parts her pink lips,
Whispers the words,
"Steveypie, that's the cutest things you ever said."

"That you and me will be like this,
Burning forever in an opium bliss,
Is perfectly fine,
At least by me.
This drug induced spell will keep us free.

Despite one being a Muslim and the other a Jew,
Their friends knew exactly what to do.
So half gave a star,
The other a Hand
Which was meant to bring luck to both their lands.
