                                                          Sink

A garish sun keeps us warm,
we do not think
we hear the clunking and crushing of the visitors' shoes.
I hear the silent groans.
We are surrounded by weeds,
they itch.
I can't move.

Voices are louder.
Go away, go away, go away!
let us be.
The earth is silk at our backs,
I hear it.

The piercing yell.
My friend.
Another cry of terror.
We shudder in unison.
The denouement - the deafening crash.
We will not be victims at their hands!
A shadow cools my surface,
Oblivion is here.

Sticky twigs close over me
calloused and rough.
I can't flinch
What? What's happening? Where is he taking me?
NNoooo!
I am groundless, travelling, careening
Speed is making me sick.

I hit the water,
I turn a deep chestnut hue.
Cold, i can't think
Sunlight pierces the calm lake with dusky beams
No sound, muffled.
Deep into the womb I fall,
slowly, the ground is rushing at me

Dizzy, I lie with the others,
Forgotten.
My new prison.
