                                                  Hideous, Piteous Thing

Silence descends on the revelation.
The truth we both now know,
You're nervous.
Tea tastes bitter but my hands are shaking.
I feel knots in my shoulder as the
birds scream outside.

Your cough fractures the quiet of the day.
Strands of cloud drift.
Listless.
'I'll stay in touch'
Flames flicker again.
Filth.

The portrait on the mantel
A reminder.
Had it seeped in there too?
Slime on skin,
I imagine the writhing
Stomach walls clench heavily

I wish I could reclaim what once was mine.
everything stained by her
Mother staring at the red bricks,
worthless.
They say a home means something,
a unity, a flow of thoughts bonded.

Glaring, I stand and walk to the mottled steps,
I can't see
You're everywhere.
Bloody picture is meaningless.
All nothing in a belly of ashes
You're stalling.

I lift the plate of orange skins
slices through the air hitting the target.
Your words aren't enough, not anymore.
Sickly smiles and similes I cannot use
Hollowness swallows the stability,
Christ!!! Why won't you leave?

Seeing it all, I remember how time expanded
Moments became dense and dragged
Inching closer, I was not ready for the impact
Nails scraping a scab on my knee.
So many faces, when did the security end?
Hatred is convenient

I'm left alone now.
Peace slithers back
But you're still here with that one
tyres moved on gravel, but you won't leave
Wetness of blood on my knee
Nothing but remains now
You had no right to intrude upon.
