 The Peanut Brittle Rated:
E
Comparing this delicious confection to human emotions - a prose poem.

The sweet, crunchy, toffee candy
That contains numerous, randomly scattered peanuts –
Peanut brittle –
Exemplifies the sumptuous joys
Of an emotional, sought-after, and immensely popular
Human being, ideally reactive and responsive
To life’s ups and downs.
This delicious treat is tastefully created
And somewhat decadent in its flavor and crunch,
Much like a highly emotional woman or man,
Enjoyably friendly and agreeable,
Expressing the positive and negative
In sweetly-textured, personal words!

But none of the candy’s richness and flavor
Can be hidden,
And like a person who cannot escape
Their emotive, spiritual,
And chaotic reactions,
Can be acknowledged as weaker
In larger, less exquisite amounts…

The opposite of emotion,
Logic, never ruined a productive, effective system
Of any kind,
And like common sense,
Can make a world of convictions,
Passion and purpose radiate!

So isn’t it time to put away the box
Of this sumptuous confection,
And continue sailing the much less maligned ship
To its natural, safe, and historic harbor?
Only if one were not to believe so much
In crying…
