Escape from a house on fire

Remnants

Running, screaming,
She leaves the house,
Nothing with her,
Everything gone.

Possessions disappear
In flashing licks of flame,
Robbing her of memories.
Her world is gone in minutes.

Painful creaking as hidden forces
Drag down the frame,
Taking with it her everything.
A life collapses.

Amongst the smoke,
Twirling columns of darkness
Hide remnants of what
Used to be.
