Ode To A Spanish Son
Flamenco guitars Echo your last breath. Death by the bullet of Franco, Eternally wandering your Moorish kingdom. Remembered in ballads rich In the veins of Granada's Culture, loved by the people Of your native home. Gypsies wail your songs Aloud, Dali and Alberti Remember your plight, Captured on a summers night In the town of your birth, An unmarked grave a nationalist gift. Leap now into the fountain Of eternal youth, Raise your poets soul upon the Crest of the hills of Andalusia, forever at peace. spb. Notes: Federico Garcia Lorca was born in Spain in 1898 and is one of my favourite poets and a big influence. In a short time he had written many books of poetry and plays, but in 1936 was arrested in his home town and murdered by firing squad by Franco's regime. His body was never found.
