Mindscape

Befuddled in mind I cower
measuring each lonely hour.
Cobwebs gathered cry for dusting,
other parts are surely rusting.

Seeing through gloom colored glasses
fear imbues as moment passes.
Today is worse than yesterday;
there's one less day for debts to pay.

To place or not to place the bets.
To pay or not to pay the debts.
Is it nobler in the mind
to suffer through this daily grind?

Or to take arms and fight for life,
liberty and an end to strife.
Or take refuge, perchance to dream,
unravel this unholy scheme.

Scheme contrived to hold us under,
trample dreams and plans asunder,
demean, diminish, make us small,
leave us holding nothing at all.
