By moonlight we ride
        by: GodIsWearingBlack  (pauliecelt@Writing.Com)
A little poem I wrote based on a lyric ("By moonlight we ride, ten thousand side by side") from a Manowar song: Battle Hymns.

By moonlight we ride,
ten thousand side by side.
Hearts pounding,
wills resounding,
let steel and flesh collide.

Cries of battle soar
from among the blood and gore.
Men and boys lie broken,
around them fear unspoken,
in the horrendous spoils of war

Early sun brings the dawn,
now cover of darkness gone.
Side by side,
bodies lay where' died,
almost time to mourn

The cries of battle wane,
as less and less remain.
Blood and bone,
disturbing groan,
no victory for the slain

By moonlight we ride,
ten thousand side by side.
Hearts depleted,
wills defeated,
into hell we ride.
