Sunday snooze
Line count: 32 Like a small bird, shaking and startled, my heart jumped wildly. Beating to the rhythm of that screaming child, I awoke violently. How long had I slept beneath a raging sun this Sunday afternoon. Where the hell was I? Why was I here? What was I meant to be doing? Oh yes my love, my sweet sweet love, to meet in that cafe. And look at the time, Its a quarter past five, the night is following the day. But somethings not right, something feels wrong, A sudden gasping thirst. And pain Oh! pain a murderous pain the sun had done its worst. A marshmallow in a campfire, a dried piece of fruit, lies still in a strangers bed. And hospital staff, now get a great laugh, at the fool with a glowing head. What a waste of a day, a glorious day, a day I'll come to hate. And what about my love, my sweet sweet love, stood up on our first date. spb.
