DISCUSSION TOPIC
When you are reading, do errors in grammar make you pause and re-read a passage? Sometimes, I not only pause when I read an obvious error in grammar, I want to fix it. I am rather impulsive this way. It irks me when an educated person can’t do a good job with their writing. They often write an article that is very inferior to their ability as far as English goes. Professors and Doctors are guilty of this. I have seen this lack in Pastors and teachers, alike. It’s like they completely forgot their English. I find poor English among written material all the time. One place that I find mistakes are in written instructions. The how to put together directions for an object, or how to work an instrument, I bought. At times the directions for these items are very unclear because of the poor way the instructions are written. I do realize instructions are often written by people that speak another language, before English, and their writing is lacking in certain finesse. I find it hilarious sometimes, when I come across a poorly written sentence. It looks like the person went completely out of their way to give special entertainment. For instance the following sentence is very entertaining: Andrea and Dan, since their moment of marriage, seemed to of had a very devoted connection. I was doing a review and I knew I was in for the long haul at this point. This point was pretty near the beginning of the story, too. Actually, this sentence is from one of my daughters’ stories which she’d sent to me for my review. This, also, was in rough draft. So, yes, to the discussion question; I definitely pause.
