My Grandmother
100 word contest entry

Summer time arrived early. Sun-kissed spring days became incubators going from hot to hotter. Nights that were cool, suddenly grew muggy. Though the heat was stifling, it also produced bounties of vegetables. Squash, peas, beans, corn, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, broccoli and eggplants ripened on plants. Blooms burgeoned. Afternoon showers watered nature’s abundance making more blossoms. Anticipation turned into delightful hampers filled by loving hands which processed jars brimming full. Delicious morsels awaiting winter’s return sat looking down high atop pantry shelves. She smiled, satisfaction lighting her face. Tired. Content. Task completed. My aproned grandmother is remembered with love.
