DO I NEED A NOTE TO MISS THIS WORK???

Do I need a note to miss this work??? I am a self-employed writer, for goodness sake! I own my own time, answer only to myself and hungry cats--what more could I ask for?? But, in fact, when I DID get to miss one of my unstructured days in favor of an unexpected pleasant outing in the sun, complete with breakfast and a new watch, for the mere excuse of a scheduled flea treatment in the house, I was more than overjoyed! And, my simple question is "do I need permission to have this much fun"--do I need a note to miss this "work?"
