Howl Of An Ancient Sun.
The dog days of summer. Sirius stalks the sun, howls a blistering cry, lord of the northern lights, burns the ruby red sky. The dog days of summer. When Cancer fights Leo. We'll drink from the grape vine, we'll bask in July sweat, drunk on the love of wine. The dog days of summer. Under an ancient God, Tempers slowly unwind, laziness steals the soul, madness invades the mind. The dog days of summer. one July afternoon. We'll bathe in a cool stream, sleep by a shading tree, sink into a sweet dream. spb. Notes: Created for Pond Poetry competition. Prompt was July. Form was Monchielle. The Monchielle is a poem that consists of four five-line stanzas where the first line repeats in each verse. Each line within the stanzas consist of six syllables, and lines three and five rhyme. The rhyme pattern is Abcdc Aefgf Ahiji Aklml. Sirius, The Dog Star, is the brightest star in the sky and visible in the day on July and in ancient times was thought to cause the sun to grow hotter, causing drought and other disasters. The Ruby is July's birthstone and symbolizes contentment.
