Seaside Tryst
What is the pull that ensures this daily tryst?

Indigo swells kiss horizon azure,
Gauzy veils of russet disintegrate,
Blushing sun ascends; freed of night’s allure,
an enchanted thrall at dawn does abate.

Dark tresses swirl wide, a circlet of gold
renders homage to regal depths of blue.
Siren songs captured in conch shells, behold -
here's an instrument of bewitchment true.

Sinuous, sensuous, wavelets of surf,
Whispering advance, a flirting retreat,
Rocky bay opens arms in outstretched curve,
So forlorn at ebb, at high they will greet.

Distant waves foam, lift their frilly skirts and dance,
Clouds jostle to view from their loft above,
Nearing shore, white-maned horses toss and prance,
Applause crests as curtain descends to trough.

Here’s a bareheaded predatory swerve,
Swift rush in, hushed assault on silken shore,
Gurgling laughter as it plunders with verve,
Shells, pebbles, even grains of gold galore.

Clear waters beckon adventurous feet,
Clammy fingers stroke and tickle my knees,
Grainy bottom recedes like a pulled sheet,
Ruby blooms in cheeks, with salt on the breeze.

Waning moon draws in net of silver strands,
Keening wind a mournful retreat does sing.
Tear-drenched glisten the cheeks of bereft sands,
Unaware of what the morrow will bring.

Infinite renewal, endless repeat,
Symbolic of hope and promises deep,
Hypnotic rhythm like voodoo drumbeat
ensures, a seaside tryst I'll always keep.
