What is freedom worth, my friend?  Have you given this a thought?
The very life you live today, with bloodshed, it was bought.
Of principles penned long years ago our forefathers made a plan.
That liberty and justice would reign across this land.
They put their faith in God above, and vowed, "In God we trust."
They gave us laws to live by that were equitable and just.
Many years have passed since then, and now we turn away
From the very God we trusted in our country's younger day.
We challenge every letter of every law that's passed.
We sue and cheat and even lie. Where's honor, you may ask?
Yet, freedom guarantees us the rights to so react;
The wherewithall to question each statement, law and fact.
But some remain disgruntled with the government of men.
We whine about the smallest things, even whimper now and then.
The commandments laws were based on can't even be displayed
In courtrooms through our nation where decisions still are made.
We've taken prayer out of our school rooms so groups we won't offend.
And some ask that "Under God" be removed...our pledge, they would amend.
Our soldiers still are fighting to preserve our way of life.
They go to foreign battlefields to rid the world of strife.
For in the name of freedom they fight, and some will die,
While pompous politicians condemn and question why.
These elected men and women will argue and complain.
Yet when time comes to vote them out, we oftentimes abstain.
Morality is fading. Crime is on the rise.
And, freedom taken for granted will meet a sad demise.
Will freedom soon elude us in these dark days of decay?
Or, will we turn back to older times in our country's younger days.
Those days when country mattered; when we stood up for what was right;
When God was in the forefront, unlike our current plight.
For we declare our freedom to live just as we choose.
No moral interference. No thought to what we'd lose.
We don't support our leaders. We live just for today.
We blame them for our problems and our lives in disarray.
How long in the name of "freedom" will madness rampant rave
Over this land that boasts of free men and claims home to countless brave?
The price of freedom's costly, now, as in years passed.
And, without God's grace and mercy our freedom will not last.
So friend, weigh out the options, and measure all the costs.
Turn back to God, our Father, before our freedom's lost
