When you perform some act of kindness
Or, help someone in need,
Do you want recognition
For each and every deed?

Do you seek man's acceptance;
Or look for great applause?
Or, maybe, you just shout it out
Boasting of your cause.

Do you give time and money
To help the poor and ill?
Then, you inform some people
That you have done God's will.

Do you work in clubs or charities
To hear your name aloud?
Does all the work that people see
Make you feel very proud?

Or maybe you repeatedly
Dodge people who will ask
Simply for your assistance
In doing some small task.

The Bible says be humble
In what you do and say.
Don't look for worldly credit
When following His way.

His purposes should guide you
To carry out His work.
Just listen for instruction.
And duties do not shirk!

Watch for His directions.
His voice to obey.
Go to Him for guidance,
And never cease to pray.

As for mankind's admiration
And seeking earthly fame,
You should reject this sinful world
To seek His holy name!

Serve the Lord with gladness.
For blessings He'll bestow.
Let righteousness direct you.
True happiness you'll know.

One day a judgement's coming.
As you stand before His throne
Will you be found as worthy
Or will you be unknown?
