On a week-end trip home from college, my daughter saw one of God's beautiful promises to His children. A complete rainbow seemed to begin and end over a field by the road. Having her camera with her, she stopped to capture the sight to share with us when she arrived at home. She paused on the roadside long enough to enjoy God's beauty, and to take a snapshot, then, pulled back onto the highway to continue her drive. Just minutes later, she had to stop once again. A few cars in front of her, there was a five vehicle pile-up, with serious injuries. If she had been not stopped, she would have been involved in that accident. In fact, she recognized some of the mangled cars as having been ahead and behind her when she saw the lovely rainbow and decided to stop for a moment!
When she came into the house, she told her story. She was still visibly shaken from the near involvement, and told us that she knew that God's hand had intervened.
I was reminded of one of my favorite verses from the Bible, from Psalm 91:11, which reads, "For He shall send His angels to protect you...", and I knew that my Creator was yet again at work in our lives. God watches over us in all of our comings and goings, in all that we do; even when we stop to witness His marvelous handiwork displayed in His beautiful promise of love by a completely arched rainbow over a South Georgia watermelon patch!
I know that He answers prayers, too, for each trip she makes, whether it be to or from home, I ask Him to send His angels to guide and protect her. We count our blessings each time we hear her voice safely on the other end of the phone line or when she drives smiling into the driveway.
Oh, and by the way, the snapshot she stopped to take, well, it showed only a spent patch of watermelon vines and weeds. There was no rainbow was visible! Some of God's miracles cannot be captured by a camera lens, but can only be witnessed with the soul.
