                                    Ghazal 297


Persian:  Nobahaar ast dar aan koosh keh khushdil baashi
              Keh basay gul badamad baaz o to dar gil baashi
Urdu:      Phir bahaar aaay gi, phir bulbul e khushdil ho ga
              Phool jo baagh maen hay pardadar e gil ho ga

English:=== O enjoy the flowers for they'll disappear
                  And when they return, you may not be here
                                                -

Persian:  Chang dar parda hameen meedahadat pand walay
              Waazat aan gahh dahad sood keh qaabil baashi
Urdu:      Chang kay parday say niklay gi naseehat laikin
              Dil e deewaana naseehat kay na qaabil ho ga     

English:=== The music is telling you to sing and dance
                  So take its advice and go into a trance
                                                -

Persian:  Mun nagooyam keh cheh kun, baa keh nasheen, o cheh banoosh
              Keh to khud daani agar zeerak o aaqil baashi               
Urdu:      Kya karay, kya piay, aur saath too kis kay baithay
              Khud samajh ho gi ager zeerak o aaqil ho ga

English:=== Well, I shouldn't be giving any advice to you
                  For you are so wise, and you know what to do
                                                -

Persian:  Dar chaman har waraqay dafter e haal e digar ast
              Haif baashad keh zay haal e hama ghafil baashi
Urdu:      Husn ho ga jo namoodaar guloun maen to chaman
              In teh e khaak haseenoun say na ghaafil ho ga

English:=== But these lovely flowers not pluck you must
                  For they've come from the girls who're lying in the dust

Persian:  Garcheh raaheest pur az beem zay ma ta bar e doost
              Raftan aasaan bawad ar waaqif e manzil baashi
Urdu:      Raah e kaashaana e dilber hay khatarnaak bohat
              Ho gi aasaan too ager waaqif e manzil ho ga

English:=== And the world of the mystics before you explore
                  Its perils and dangers you shouldn't ignore

Persian:  Naqd e umrat baburad khusssa e dunya ba gazaaf
              Gar shab o rooz dar een qissa e baatil baashi
Urdu:      Naqd e jaan taeri karay ga gham e dunya za'ay
              Ger shab o roz tujhay ghussa e baatil ho ga

English:=== And a place of bliss if you want to secure
                  Of the pleasures of life you should avoid the lure
                                                -

Persian:  HAFIZA gar madad az bakht e bulandat baashad
              Sayd e aan shaahid e matboo e shamaail baashi
Urdu:      Bakht e baidaar ager saath rahay ga HAFIZ
              Qurb maen shaahid e matboo e shamaail ho ga

English:=== And HAFIZ says you should shun your conceit
                  If the one you love you want to meet
