Heading for the pier; approaching from the North, caught in traffic, listening to a inspirational tape, Inching car by car, thinking about Julia and the money we had won. I was starting to think these tapes really work.
My mind flashed back to two month's ago. We had been barely scraping by, when Julia rushed in with this box of inspirational tapes. Thrilled with what she had bought, she spread them on the counter. Announcing, she had purchased them with her half of the rent.I had shaken my head side to side, with a grin I could not hide.
This was the type of thing, I had come to expect.I had no clue what would blossom from her fertile imagination next. The only thing I could rely on was surprise. Don't get me wrong, so far I was definitely enjoying the trip. Julia was a once in a lifetime experience, at least for me.
Myself, I am kinda shy and reserved. When I put a quarter in a vending machine, I think I am gambling. Julia had seen something in me, I could not see myself. Needless too say she chose me. I was to shy to approach her. Stalled for now I reread her note."Bring champagne, caviar, and cheese." Meet me at the end of the pier". Lord knows what she has planned. I can only anticipate, with trepidation. It is like waiting to get on a ride at Disneyland, experiencing, that joyous shiver running down your spine.
Finally arriving at the pier, I was searching for a parking spot. Expectations rising with every second, I walked out on the pier.Watching the spectacular fireworks,I had been enjoying the last part of my trip.My basket of champagne, caviar, and cheese, held neatly in the crook of my right arm.Suddenly;! A dark large figure in yellow rain gear and helmet blocked my way. "What seems to be the problem". I asked ? He shook his head from side to side, but he did not grin. " Some nut accidentally ignited fireworks on the end of the pier," he replied.
Julia exploded in my imagination; standing, arms spread wide, head held back, tilted toward the sky. Her red hair blowing in the wind, laughing uproariously at the spectacle she had created.Sparkles and ash showering all around her. 382 words
