Over two thousand years ago,
There was a shining star. It shone so bright and for so long Many saw it from afar. It guided kings from foreign lands To view a special child. They knew Messiah had arrived, And they were quite beguiled. They set their course upon the star. Through charts they made their way. Their eyes were focused on their goal. Never did they stray. Shepherds watching in the fields Were frightened and did hide. But angel voices from above Were their celestial guide. A shining light above them, They came of one accord. They followed their new pathway To Jesus Christ our Lord. With a star to guide me, I’d be sure to stay the course. I'd find the road to Heaven, Where there’ll be no remorse. With a star to guide me I could make my way, Through this lost and sinking world. Never would I stray. There is still a star that’s shining, More brilliant than the sun. For He’s the Bright and Morning Star The perfect, Holy One! Two thousand years have come and gone Yet, He remains the same. This gentle loving Savior Longs for you to call His name. 36 lines
