Mother Wolf
A poem about a mother wolf's conflicting instincts to protect her pups.

So silent is each footstep,
So soft is every breath.
So willing is each journey
To each of Earth's dark depths.
So knowing is each hunt,
So caring is each lick.
So fierce is every fight
And every kill so quick.
So melodious each howl,
So tedious her life.
So dark the winter storm,
And darker still this night.
