Today was the day of the big premier and I was so excited I thought I would bust. The movie they had made from my story was closer than I had any right to expect. I had taken the entire day off from my regular, 9-5 job. I had plenty of time before I headed to the showing. Lucky for me they actually remembered the author.

I grabbed the paper and ran back in the house. The sky looked like rain. I opened the paper to the weather report for the day. There was an eighty percent chance of rain. That was not a good thing, since my wardrobe choice had been for sun. Now I would have to try to find an appropriate jacket to wear over my little black dress.

The rain started early, and the day seemed destined to ruin my fun. I would be hanging out after the premier with the actors from the movie. It was only my second time to talk to them. The first time I had gone to the studio expecting to speak with only the director. It had been hard to think, after meeting Orlando Bloom. He was so much more intense in person. To have him playing the lead from my book was so amazing! When he shook my hand, his eyes met mine and he let me know he was a fan of my work. Just thinking about the rest of our conversation had me hyperventilating.

I finally got a hold of myself enough to grab my clothes and head to the shower. I had to look extra special tonight, the press were going to be there. I clicked on the radio thinking that some music would calm me down only to hear of the premier tonight. My heart rate accelerated. How was I ever going to get through this? Looking around I found the cute flats I had picked up for the occasion. I slipped them on and went in to make myself gorgeous for this chance of a lifetime. I just hoped that he would not bring someone with him. I knew I was deluding myself thinking he would have any interest in me. It was just that I could not think of anything else.

After an hour, I was able to get my hair in some semblance of stylish. I slipped my dress on and then went back to double check my hair. I adjusted the few strands that seemed to fly away, and used a liberal amount of hairspray to make sure it stayed in place.

With any luck, I would at least be able to speak with Orlando again. I think I was more nervous about the after party than the reception of the movie with the public. It would be months before I knew if my next book would be as big of a success as the first. I could only hope that he might be impressed. Silly I know. I was too old, to be acting like a schoolgirl with a crush. I should have been worried about the next round of books I was working on.

It was finally time to leave. The car from the studio was out front waiting. I was so nervous that I made three trips out to the limo before I actually got in. Once to grab my jacket, another to turn off the radio and then a third to grab my paper copy of the script to have it signed by all the actors in the film. When I did get in, he was there in the car. I thought I was dreaming. It had to be a dream. How else was I in a limo with Orlando Bloom?

He handed me his copy of his book. “Would you please autograph this, for me?”

“You want my autograph?”

“I hope you don’t mind. I know it is silly. It’s just that, I feel like I know you from your writing.”

“Oh, well, I was hoping to have yours too.” I blushed as I said the words.

“Would you mind terribly if we were, together at the premier? These things always make me nervous and you seem so calm. That is, if you are not too embarrassed by being with me. What I am asking is would you mind if I was your date for this evening?”

His request set me into a fit of giggles. ”I should think that you would be embarrassed to be with me.”

We spoke on the way there of his upcoming films and he asked about my upcoming books. His taste in literature surprised me. The papers would probably have a lot to say about our arrival. When we arrived, he took my arm in his and we headed in. We both took a deep breath as the lights went down, in the theater. It took me several tries to concentrate on the movie.

Even though I knew the story, it was so new, seeing it on the screen instead of in my head. When the movie ended I had tears in my eyes, it was exactly how I had envisioned it. The party was a success. I figured he found another friend. So I headed out to the car. When I got in, I found him asleep in the limo. He woke up as the door shut. We made plans for the following evening.

What a way to end the best day of my life, with a soft kiss.
