                            Ghalib Urdu 2


Urdu:  Juz Qais aur koie na aaya ba roo e kaar
          Sahra magar ba tangi e chashm e hosood tha

English:=== In the dreadful wild only a lover can go
                  It's surely no place for his terrible foe
                                          -

Urdu:  Aashuftagi nay naqsh e suwaida kya durust
          Zaahir hua keh daagh ka sarmaaya dood tha

English:=== In a lover's breast there's nothing but fire
                  So when he breathes only smoke does flow
                                          -

Urdu:  Tha khaab maen khayaal ko tujh say ma'amla
          Jab aankh khul gaie na ziaan tha, na sood tha

English:=== His joy comes only when he dreams of his love
                  For the rest of the time he has nothing but woe
                                            -

Urdu:  Laita hay muktab e gham e dil maen sabaq habooz
          Laikin yahi keh raft gaya aur bood tha

English:=== He learns his lessons in the school of love
                  Only suffering and sorrow where he comes to know
                                            -

Urdu:  Dhaanpa kafan nay daagh e ayoob e barehnagi
          Maen warna her libaas maen nang e wajood tha

English:=== In his grave he finds his only refuge
                  For it covers his faults from head to toe
                                            -

Urdu:  Taishay baghair mer na saka Kohkan ASAD
          Sargashta e khumaar e rasoom o qayood tha

English:=== And since nobody dies without a cause
                  Without reason, GHALIB, a lover can't go
