Wonder Of The Sea

Standing upon the shore
Gazing at the sea,
It was an open door,
Waiting just for me.

Offering worlds untold-
Love, wealth, adventure-
Mysteries to unfold;
All these as a lure:

Sunset, sunrise, romance
Cause a heart to rise
Till Pierced with fatal lance,
The sea-my demise.

The sea whispers to me,
It can be again,
Tenderness-me and Thee-
This time with no pain.

Azure blue beckons me,
Late afternoon mist
Rising off of the sea,
Grip tight as a fist.

Desire deep in my soul,
Yearning old as time,
To forever be whole,
An immortal rhyme.

And so we try again,
Sailing on the sea;
Listening to life's refrain,
Love bound you and me,

And there we found treasure
In the depths swirling,
Wealth beyond measure,
In whirlpools twirling.

Distant shores shine bright;
Dreamers on a sea
Full of eternal light
Forever caught-you and me.
