Flair For Writing
The 70's Newsletter Editor: Megan Rose Princess Megan Rose 10 Years Assistant Editor: Angel Angel ![]() Hello Everyone! How are you? It is summer. County Fairs are here. People going to the Beaches, camping and doing fun summer things. I just entered two of my scrapbooks in the Fair. I don't know how they did, yet. My sister was here from Florida visiting. Angel is back to making beautiful graphics. She is happy to help with this newsletter. I can't wait for you to read what she has to say about growing up in the 70's! So, are you ready to go back into time? Let's go back to The 70's! This is what Angel has to say. We hope you enjoy this newsletter! Angel here. In 1976. I was a teenager. I remember having my first baby sitting job when I was 16. I remember getting my first fake ID to get into bars. Yes, I drank when I was very young. I use to tell people I was 22 when I was 16 and they believed it. I didn't listen to much of Rock music. I was into country, soft rock, Easy Listening and some Disco. I liked the TV Shows: Lavern and Shirley, Happy Days and Charleys Angels.I used to love men in their 40's but I knew I was too young so I wasn't that lucky. LOL! I never dated men my age. I always liked them older. I also smoked cigarettes but that didn't last long because of my allergies. In the summer, I had a fantastic tan. I wore my bathing suit most of the time even to go to the market half naked...Ha! Ha! Oh, boy I was really something, a little brat who wanted the attention of every man to look at me like I was very pretty. Oh my goodness, I was a little stinker! I didn't have too many friends but it was my choice. I did have a lot of fun in the 70's. I got married in 1978 and my fun ended. We moved to Massachusetts in 1979. My son was born in 1980. In 1981, I was back in San Diego, California with my parents. My marriage didn't last. Having my son made me realize so many things. I guess I had grown up. I didn't smoke or drink anymore. I thought it was the best decision for my own good and baby. Time goes by so quickly. So make the best of it. Thank you for reading this. I hope I didn't put you to sleep with my story. Thanks, Angel. You were such a bad girl! Just Kidding! I love you. In the 70's, my Dad was in Viet Nam three times and I resented that war. It sure was a long war. In the 70's, we had Disco. I loved Dance Fever. Remember the Midi Coats, Mini Coats and Platform Shoes? I owned a Midi Coat and three pair of Platform Shoes. It is a wonder I didn't break my leg in those! Who can forget the music? Michael Jackson was so cute and sweet. I am saddened by Micheal Jackson's death but we will always have his music and pictures. I used to have Michael Jackson's picture on my wall along with Bobby Sherman, David Cassidy and Donny Osmond. Some of my favorites were: Bee Gees, America, Chicago, John Denver, Elton John, Led Zepplin, Abba{I felt like The Dancing Queen!", Deep Purple and Kenny Rogers. Let's not forget Alice Cooper, the King of Shock Rock! I loved country music, too. I loved Johnny Cash and Glen Campbell. I still do. What about the movies in the 70's? Like JAWS. I loved the music when the big white shark was coming. Too scary but fun! I loved STAR WARS. I loved Luke Skywalker, Hans Solo, Chewie, R2D2, CP3PO and Darth Vader! Yes, Darth Vader! Especially the movies from two and three years ago when Darth Vader wasn't evil until the end. Let's not forget THE GODFATHER and LOVE STORY. Wasn't Ryan O'Neal hot? There were some great TV Shows. THE BRADY BUNCH, {Marcia, Marcia, Marcia!}, PARTRIDGE FAMILY{ I loved Keith Partridge{, THREES COMPANY, ALL MY CHILDREN{Erica and I are aging together}, CHARLEYS ANGELS and HERE COME THE BRIDES. I am sorry that Farrah Fawcett died. She was so beautiful . I used to wear my hair like hers. She was one of my idols. I am sure Farrah is in Heaven. Remember Pet Rocks? What about the Mood Rings? My college boyfriend bought me one. Streaking? People running nude all over the place! 8 Track Tapes? What a waste! My 8 Track Player ate some of mine. I used to wear Bell Bottom Pants. You had to make sure they weren't too long. You didn't want to trip over them. The Hustle Dance was fun. I just loved Smiley Faces. I love That 70's Show. I watch it and remember when I was that age. My father was like Red Foreman. He always reminds me that he fought in the war and still wants to kick my butt. Jackie always wears the cutest 70's Style clothes. I dated guys like Kelso, Fez, Hyde and Eric. The 70's Show is just that. The 70's! Angel and I hope that you have enjoyed this newsletter. We hope you have your own 70's Memories. Our next newsletter will be about Halloween and we do a Christmas Newsletter. Time sure goes fast. We wish you all the best. You can always e-mail Angel or me here at Writing. We love you!
