Prompt "I’ve time enough to wander."

I’ve time enough to wander,
down the paths of memory lane,
to the hopes and dreams of yesterday,
and a life of love and pain.

I’ve time enough to wonder,
about the things I did,
have I met them boldly,
and how often have I hid?

I’ve time enough to wonder,
why God has placed me here,
to live with hope and sorrow,
and to shed a mournful tear?

I’ve time enough to wonder,
was I ever meant to be,
or am I just a passing thought,
through the realm of destiny?

I’ve time enough to wonder,
why youth was rough and sad,
why family always thought of me,
as something cold and bad.

I’ve time enough to wonder,
if given another chance,
I could be a happy child,
a Knight with a shining lance.

I’ve time enough to wonder,
about the things I never did,
about the hopes and dreams I had,
as a shy and skinny kid.

I’ve time enough to wonder,
why I took a certain trail,
to a path that led to sorrow,
where no hopes and dreams could dwell.

I’ve time enough to wonder,
about the years I spent in hell,
and of those whose names are carved,
on a wall of cold dark shale.

I’ve time enough to wonder,
about the sudden change,
from a life of pain and anger,
to a gentle loving range.

I’ve time enough to wonder,
why I should be so blessed,
with a pretty Irish wife,
and love and happiness?

I’ve time enough to wonder,
about  immortality,
perhaps the meaning of it all,
is my childens’ destiny.

I’ve time enough to wonder,
has life been all that grand,
or has it been a reckless drive,
through a dark and bitter land?

I’ve time enough to wonder,
have I been good or bad,
or have I lived a fruitful life,
from the choices I have had?

I’ve time enough to wonder,
to dwell upon the past,
and of all the things I want to do,
before my fate is cast.

I’ve time enough to wonder,
what surely lies ahead,
when I am safely tucked away,
and my thoughts and dreams have fled?

I’ve time enough to wander,
through the halls of memory,
back to the hopes and many dreams,
that formed my destiny.
