Urdu:  Mehram naheen hay too hi nawaha e raaz ka
          Yaan warna jo hijaab hab hay perda hay saaz ka

English:=== The Heavenly mystery you think you know
                  And you think,O preacher, you're the only pro
                                          -

Urdu:  Rang e shakista subhey bahaar e nazaara hay
          Yeh waqt hay shuguftan e gulha e naaz ka

English:=== My friend, you should see the glory of dawn
                  When the flowers all smile, and say come on
                                          -

Urdu:  Too aur soo e ghair nazarha e taiz, taiz
          Maen aur dukh teri mizhaha e daraaz ka

English:=== And of night when girls entice young men
                  And lovers just watch with yearning and yen
                                            -

Urdu:  Sarfa hay zabt e aah maen maera, wager na maen
          Taama houn aek hi nafas e jaangudaaz ka

English:=== These hapless lovers just bear and grin
                  Though breathe they fire with great chagrin
                                            -

Urdu:  Haen bus keh joash e baada say sheeshay uchhal rahay
          Her goasha e bisaat hay ser sheeshabaaz ka 

English:=== And watch the bar where bubly wine
                  Those beauties drink and look so divine
                                            -

Urdu:  Kaawish ka dil karay hay taqaaza keh hay hunooz
          Nakhun pay qarz is girah e neembaaz ka

English:=== And men their love to the girls declare
                  While gently untying their knotted hair
                                            -

Urdu:  Taaraaj e kaawish e gham e hijraan hua ASAD
          Seena keh tha dafeena goharha e raaz ka

English:=== But for lovers, GHALIB, there is no cure
                  Their pain of parting they just have to endure
