We will survive...
A Blue Whale rebukes man for his selfishness and non caring attitude towards lower forms.

I am the Blue whale of the oceans,
the largest being to have lived ever.
Only few of us still swim today,
because man turned out to be clever.

Can't reminisce the day we evolved,
perhaps eons before Adam and Eve.
We partied all night the day they took birth.
Who knew they were here to make us grieve?

Silently living in cold waters,
none of us did mankind any harm.
We shouldn't have welcomed you to our seas,
you messed them up for we were unarmed.

Down our homes you dumped your wastes,
mercury and arsenic and lead.
That made the plankton just disappear,
you snatched away our butter and bread.

I am a mammal just like you all,
I breathe because my lungs suck in air.
If I drop your kids in a gas tank--
Would you still happily stand and stare?

You used me to make candles and soaps,
even my vomit for perfumes.
If we could hunt you alive and kill--
Could you be used to make even brooms?

Man o man, what made you do all this?
Isn't there ample on land for you to eat?
Where have all hens, pigs and snakes gone?
You could not even spare a whale's meat?

He may have lent you the brightest brain,
still you are the dumbest beings alive.
Ages after you've gone extinct,
I promise it's we who will survive.
