A WEEKEND ADVENTURE

As a little girl, I used to visit Holiday Park, in Indianapolis, with my dad, nearly every weekend. We always parked by the same trees, in an obscure location ar the beginning point of the park's nature trails, so that we could easilly access the trails. It was on one of those trees that we carved our initials; that made me feel very grown up and important to go back and spy to see if they were still there. I wonder if they are still there now, 45 years later? I would like to think so!

MY ATTEMPT AT POEMS BASED ON THIS MEMORY:

SATURDAY IN THE PARK WITH DAD!
Up!
Morning!
Saturday!!
Off to the park!
Best weekend outings, without parallel--
of quality or parking by the trees
there, we checked on
initials
we had
carved!

PALS
Pals!
That's what
you called us!
Trips to the park
your big hands covering my little ones!
Your big heart, loving me for what you saw:
eager, small girl!
Your daughter
with you!
Love!
