Upon a time and once again,
I believe I had a friend. A friend indeed -- one who knew, My darker side, so black and blue. Still, this friend defended me. Against the things I would not see. Even though my shell was hard. My future was his first regard. My gloom within a midnight’s tale. My troubles, to him, I’d bewail. Never knowing he could see, beneath my bright hypocrisy. My only hope is that he knows, the diligence--that I disclose. Not a matter that is new. Ask the reaper for his due. So once again, here, I depend, On a brother, or, a friend. Also, upon a sister, wife, This dreadful thing--I call a life. I only hope that they can see, There is a better life for me. Despite the fact that I am blind. Looking backwards, from behind.
