One Last Request

One Last Request

I've always been your faithful friend,
And ever there for you,
But now I'm old and sick and frail,
There's one thing you can do.

I cannot ask in words as such,
Just sadness in my eyes,
It's all to much for me to bear,
However hard I try.

A pat upon my weary head,
A kiss upon my brow,
Then let the angels do their work,
It's time to leave me now.

A special toy, the blanket
From the place I used to sleep,
A photograph of happy times,
These are the things to keep.

I cannot thank you, but you know
I'm free as stars above,
I'm living still within your heart,
In memories of love.
